But instead of a room deserving of a magazine spread, it's a room where furniture goes to die. As we've slowly replaced our crappy, cheap college dorm room furniture with slightly upgraded versions, we find a home for the old piece in our guest bedroom. The result is an mess, literally.
But during the recent Davis Home Makeover of 2011, I had to find a home for a couple of my dearly loved, upgraded Crate and Barrel pieces of furniture. So while the furniture is nicer, the room still feels like a mess. I need some help friends. What can I do to spruce up this space?
A couple caveats: I'm not changing the wall color, which is a camel color (not yellow like it might look in the pictures). This room was a bitch to paint and as we'll hopefully be moving out in a year or two, it just doesn't seem worth it. I also need some affordable ideas as most of my budget was spent on the living room, which will soon have it's big reveal.
Looking at the bed and window.
Moving slowly around the room ... I need to get rid of the candle holders, or change out the pillar color.
The lost corner. I need something here, but am hesitant to add more dark furniture, and am not sure that white would look good.
Need a solution for all those cords. These are black and site opposite the wall with the big picture.
The server is espresso and sits opposite the wall with the window.
I'm thinking you may need to get some new lighting in there along with another piece of artwork instead of all the candles or a wall collage of pictures. Were the two candleholders originally in the kitchen? What about new window coverings and some blingy pillows for the bed? What do the cords belong to? The lamp? I would also add a different splash of color for vibrancy. There are definitely things that can be done! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad to know I don't have to paint it again.
ReplyDeleteShel-What type of lamp are you thinking. The cords are a combo of our internet connection and the lamp.
ReplyDeleteWould you add more of the turquoise we're using for a splash?
